THE MASKED CRITICS REVIEW OF THE GREY

Things you should know coming into this movie

·         Stars Liam Neeson: (A Team, Star Wars episode I, Taken, etc…)

·         Genre: action & Thriller

·         Wait till after credits for a scene

Mini plot synopsis: Survives of a plane crash in Alaska must hurry to survive the snowy baron wasteland because if the cold doesn’t get them the wolves will.

·Positives

As to be expected from a great actor as Neeson he delivers a great performance and even ventures out of his usual calm and collective self we see in most movies and delivers a some good moments that showcases some of human kinds darkest fears and emotions.

Another great part of this movie is the thrills and suspense. Well executed and you will be taken by surprise in the moments you are least expecting.

The scenario was great. While the movie was shot in Canada I definitely felt like I was in the Alaskan wilderness.

The Negatives

While Neesons character was unique and identifiable, around 80% of the rest of the characters seemed to be composed of the regular bunch of people you find in a group of lost survivors. The asshole, silent chubby guy, the annoying/talkative guy, the peace maker and the determined father.

The plot while initially good was made almost meaningless by the actions done by the characters & at one point I said I don’t really care if anyone lives or dies because they all seemed like blah.

One of the key scenes from the trailer (The scene that pretty much makes you want to see the movie in the first place)(THE FUCKING ONE ON ONE FIST FIGHT BETWEEN LIAM NEESON & THE FUCKING WOLF)  was cut completely which will piss you off to no end & the after credit scene could not be more unclear.

·Overall

In the end even Liam Neesons great acting skills could not save this movie. The characters were not unique enough and were unidentifiable, and the ending was not satisfying and makes you wonder if the director was trying to make you mad. & to top it all off there is NO FUCKING WOLF PUNCHING!!!!

I have to give this movie a 4 out of 10 only because of Liam Neeson’s acting was great & the wolves delivered some heart pounding scenes but in the end I think I would have preferred to have been in a plane crash or get eaten by wolves than watch it again.

THE MASKED CRITIC HAS SPOKEN!!!!
